America at 250: Ideals, Conflict & Citizenship is a complete six-lesson, inquiry-based U.S. History and civics unit for Grades 7–12, homeschool, co-op, and dual-credit adaptation.
Built around the essential question:
What does 250 years of American history tell us about the meaning of the American experiment?
Rather than presenting the Semiquincentennial as simply a celebration, this unit asks students to investigate the ideals, conflicts, achievements, contradictions, and unfinished questions that have shaped the United States since 1776.
Students examine the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, slavery and emancipation, Reconstruction, women’s suffrage, Native citizenship, civil rights, dissent, reform, and historical memory through primary sources and evidence-based inquiry.
